Can Assisting Others With Their Questions Really Improve Website Traffic?

June 6, 2009 by Anthony Buchalka

There are websites that provide questions and answers for a huge variety of subjects. It’s a gold mine of information waiting to be used.

A user on one of these Question and Answer web sites can ask a “question” on a particular subject and other users of the site can put forward answers to it and the answers can be voted on (and then sorted by) relevance (more votes meaning more relevance). All of the responses can be seen online.

These Question and Answer web sites can generate you great amounts of traffic if you can answer questions in your area of expertise (it goes without saying that you need to ensure that your answering Questions that are related to your particular niche on the Internet).

Yahoo have a Question and Answer website that offers a complete question and answer service and it’s very helpful to get your name out there and on peoples lips.

You do certainly need to be careful about what you post. Don’t expect to be able to just post a URL and get masses of traffic, you will find your “answer” voted down or even removed if you do this.

As I have mentioned numerous times, providing great quality and relevant content will be far more valuable. Actually helping people out (by answering their question) will show you to be an “expert” in your market in almost no time.

The rules generally specify no “soliciting”, so answer the question and help someone out, with a detailed answer and then add a reference to your website for people to follow up for more information.

The other great reason to use Question and Answer sites (particularly Yahoo given that Google is not accepting new questions and answers) is that lots of websites syndicate the questions and answers for content on their website.

Because of this an increase in web site traffic occurs.

As I mentioned above, Questions and Answers can also appear in search engine results. Of course the other benefit is that users of the question and answer sites themselves will get to your website from reading your responses.

Personally in my experience I treat the answering of questions as building up a presence on the Internet rather than a source of huge traffic to my websites, however it is certainly something that should not be ignored.

With that said, I believe it can be a great “return on investment” where for a relatively small amount of time invested (to answer questions) you can get a steady trickle of web traffic.[youtube:ttnMikpK2nc;[link:Web Traffic Video];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttnMikpK2nc&feature=related]

Google Web Traffic And Other Search Engines. OxiMoron?

June 6, 2009 by Tim Buchalka

One of the things I see lots of Internet Marketers doing is putting their full focus on Google and their search engine rankings, to the exclusion of all other search engines.

Now in your quest for more google web traffic, I am going to suggest you should broaden your horizons and look at other traffic sources.

At first glance this makes sense because Google do have by far the largest market share i.e. more people use Google for finding what they want on the Internet than any other search engine.

However because more people use it, more advertisers are drawn to it and advertise with Google, so this often brings more competition, and more cost to advertise.

Have you ever considered focusing on some of the less prominent search engine? Or at least putting some focus on them?

Yahoo and MSN are two examples of search engines that still get a considerable number of people using them (obviously not to the level Google does) however, it some cases I have researched there is little and if your really lucky no competition for paid advertising with these search engines in particular niches.

That’s right, it is possible to be the only paid advertiser for a given niche. Of course this can change at any time, and people will get savvier about this as the word gets around.

Imagine if you can get your website listed prominently in these search engines result pages, but also advertising your website using their paid advertising!

Now you will obviously want to ensure you’re also using Google, and focusing on getting good rankings in their search engines results, but don’t ignore these other search engines.

One thing I tell people is to try and bring in as much traffic as you can from as many sources as possible.

I mean would you be happy with 1000 visitors to a day when it quite possibly to increase this by 100% or more by using some of the other traffic sources outlined on this website?

You want as many visitors as possible, don’t you. Sure you want them to be targeted and qualified visitors, and not just random people surfing by (unless you have a fantastic product that everyone in the world would want). If you have such a product let me know, I’d probably want to invest in your company!.

It only takes a little vision to stretch your horizons. I tell people to spend some time looking at the larger picture and working out where you want your website to be. Focus on your site from a visitor’s perspective. Great content that is relevant to the visitor will push up sales in no time at all!

Make sure you look into other search engines, there could be a gold nugget just waiting for you to come along and mine!

You Can Increase Site Traffic Using This Simple But Uusually Overlooked Keyword Tip

May 28, 2009 by Anthony Buchalka

Would you be interested in find out what keywords Google think are the most relevant to your search query? Would you like results returned to be kept updated all the time? How about being able to access the information for free?

And in addition what about if I told you that you could retrieve all the information using nothing but your favorite browser and a standard Google search?

Does that take your fancy? Good, lets get into the detail….

Firstly lets take a step back and discuss relevance, as this term is at the very core of Googles results returned from your searches.

Google wants to provide the person searching with extremely accurate and relevant results that it can. They are aware that if they are unable to provide this information, it’s likely that users will no longer use their search engine completely, and no users means no ad revenues which is their main source of income!

For a prime example of a search engine dropping the ball, spare a thought for AltaVista? In its time it was the most used search engine, and almost overnight (not quite) lost the crown to Google because they dropped the ball with relevance.

I doubt there is such a thing as search engine loyalty (at least not for the non Internet Marketing search engine user). If a better solution arrives, the average people will just start using that service.

Trust me when I say The Powers To Be At Google are very conscious of this, and put enormous thought and manpower into ensuring that when you search for something, the results returned are highly related to your search term.

They have to keep the everyday searcher happy so that they use Google all the time.

Web masters have, of course located methods to “game” Google in the past, so that their own web pages come up instead of what should be the most relevant pages, and such techniques are still used in modern times.

Mostly these techniques are located by Google who is getting cleverer at finding these types of hacks.

Google seems to get it right a lot of the time, and certainly more than the other major search engines at this point in time.

Ok so given that Google is currently providing the most relevant information and has the largest user base when compared to any other search engine, and that its obvious that their primary mission is information relevance to their users, doesn’t it make sense to go to their search results and be using this information more when conducting keyword research?

For example lets say your searching for the keyword phrase web traffic

When I entered that keyword phrase into google, I got a list of current pages that Google tell us are the most relevance to that search term (along with a host of ads).

But in additional to these results at the bottom of the page they also provide (and here is the key)….

Searches RELATED to: increase web traffic (Their words).

Hmm interesting a list of keywords that Google think are relevant to my search.

Google actually show you the search terms that they deem to be the most relevant to your search phrase.

Now if you do some research about this, there is lots of speculation on how google decide on what words are displayed, but no matter what you think I believe it’s certainly worth investigating further, isn’t it?

In my testing I found the keywords it came back with seemed to be phrases heavily searched on.

In the case of web traffic, the keyword phrases I got back were

increase web traffic free web traffic buy web traffic google web traffic web traffic report web traffic generator web traffic monitoring measure web traffic

They all seem pretty related to my original search.

And you can drill down by clicking on a search term to get relevant keywords to that phrase. For example I could have clicked increase web traffic and received a list of related search terms that relate to that term.

This is getting interesting. Before you discount this technique compared to using your favorite keyword research program, It’s my suggestion consider the following.

1) The information from these searches are directly from Googles data banks, so the information has not been corrupted in any way.

Many keyword tools don’t use information from Google at all (Wordtracker) or combine data from many sources. Here we have information direct from the source!

2) The information returned from Google is of course very up to date, unlike a lot of other keyword research data that can be months out of date.

I am not saying that you abandon all other keyword tools in favor of this technique, but I do suggest you check it out. With all the latest whiz bang all conquering, overly hyped software tools that seemingly gets released everyday, sometimes it pays to take a step back and go back to just using a very simple method like searching in Google!

In my case, I actually use this method in conjunction with other keyword tools, and get the best out of both worlds. My 2 favorite keyword research tools currently are Nichebot and Market Samurai (google them).

I find the best use of this method is when searching new niches, or when establishing the viability of getting into a particular market.

One final thing to note is that unfortunately not all keywords are supported. Sometimes no related search terms come back for a given keyword, but given that it’s free I’m happy to overlook that oversight.

And sometimes I have to mention that the search terms returned seem a little bizarre. But this seems to be in more unusual niches that perhaps Google have not collected enough information for (my speculation).

Get out there and have a look at the related search function in Google. The search terms that come back might end up being very useful.[youtube:ttnMikpK2nc;[link:Cool Video];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttnMikpK2nc&feature=related]

Why You Really Must Use Viral Marketing In Your Ongoing WebSite Promotion

May 28, 2009 by Anthony Buchalka

So just what is a Viral Marketing Definition?

It’s really just a method to get your story out to a boatload of prospects by word of mouth. In other words the idea is to get your message out much like a computer virus would spread.

Catching the virus in this case though can be a good thing; in this context it’s prospects becoming aware of you and your web site.

Now the actual message can be in many formats, video, email, podcast, whatever. The idea is to convince potential prospects who already have your information to spread it to people they know, exponentially increasing the number of people who find your information. [youtube:GNyB9nwnTD4;[link:Viral Advertising Video];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNyB9nwnTD4&feature=related] First, let me make it perfectly clear that I am not talking about sending Spam out to millions of people.

Apart from the legalities of doing this, sending spam is just dumb, because it’s not wanted, and even if is seen it’s clear that going to spread is it? After all if it makes it past the spam folders and actually makes it into someones Inbox, it’s just going to get deleted when and if it is read.

At this point I would suggest relevant useful content is the key. Giving value to prospects is absolutely vital.

So how do we get people to do your work for you? How do you get them to do that? Spread your viral stuff that is.

First things first, it really needs to be something relevant and useful.

In other words it has to have perceived value. The person who has received your information has to fully believe it will give value to someone else otherwise they will not pass it on to anyone else.

A major thing I have found in this industry is almighty power of joint ventures. It’s a lot easier to get your message out to the masses if you have friends in the industry with large lists of their own.

Let’s say you have released a new Video Series. You currently have a mailing list of 5000 people who have expressed an interest or actually purchased something from you in the past.

Your product would be of course in a related niche so you feel sure you can generate at least some interest in it from your list so that is the first place to attack.

You will probably find that some of your customers will send the offer to their family if they think it’s valueable.

Ahhh the power of word of mouth advertising, Can there be any more powerful force in marketing then getting your customers telling their family how cool, hip and fantastic you and your products are? This is a viral marketing campaign in full swing.

If you can get list members telling their friends about your products and then once they sign up and then tell their friends can you can see that it will take very little time at all to have a huge response to your sales message.

You’ll be needing to buy new servers for your website because the old one has blown up with overwhelming web traffic you have received.

Take the time to learn more about viral advertising. I am sure that you will greatly benefit from using these techniques in your internet marketing.

It is a known fact that more traffic equals higher sales. You have heard that a million times probably. The more people that land on your site, the more sales you’re likely to make.

Here are 5 fundamentals that can help your business drive more traffic and potentially great prospects to your website:

1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – By optimizing your website, you can have it listed on the first page of a search engines results and provide you maximum exposure. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your website since over 60% of people who are looking for products and services use search engines to locate them.

2. Article Marketing – Writing and publishing quality articles may not only establish you as an expert but are also a way to create quality content for your site, and search engines love content. If you provide quality and interesting content, chances are, people will give your site a visit by clicking the link in the resource box at the end of your articles. And with good keywords in your articles, you could get the high ranking in search results.

3. Pay Per Click Advertising – PPC advertising is easy to set up and is a cost-efficient way to get your ads displayed at the top of search engines like Yahoo! and Google in that you only pay when someone clicks through to your site, and its fast. However, without the proper management it can also be expensive and time consuming.

4. Affiliate Marketing – Affiliate marketing can turn your valuable web site traffic into money. Affiliates widely promote your web site’s products and services via your affiliate program in return for commission based on the traffic or sales they make for you.

5. Site Exit Traffic – Offering your visitors with an alternative to your site at the point that they exit is a smart way to cycle traffic through a ring of your own web sites. This usually occurs with a pop-up window which displays a page on your site. This also helps you maximize your profits by allowing you to capture more leads or promote one more product before a potential customer leaves your website.
