Are Search Engine Robots Useful?
March 16, 2010 by Justin Harrison

Search engine ’spiders’ are robots that seek out webpages to display in search engines. Below we’ll discuss how they work and why they’re important.
Robots actually have the same basic functionality that earlier browsers had. Just like these early browsers, search engine robots do not have the ability to do certain things. Robots cannot get past password protected areas. They do not understand frames, Flash movies, nor Images or JavaScript. Even if you use a robot, you have to click the buttons on your website. They can cease to function while using JavaScript navigation or when indexing a dynamically generated URL. A search engine robot retrieves data and finds information and links on the web.
The ’submit url’ function places the url into a list of urls the robots are going to explore. Even without submitting your url directly, robots will try to find your site by following links. That’s why building visibility through a web of links is important.
Submitting a new URL to a search engine adds this URL to the queue which the spiders are due to ‘crawl’ or visit. However, even if a URL isn’t submitted directly, the spiders usually find it through links from other websites. If you build link popularity, this will help the spiders find you faster. When the robots arrive, they’ll check your site for a file called ‘robots.txt,’ which will tell them what areas of the website they are not allowed to visit. Off-limits files may include things like binaries or other information that the spiders need not report back.
Once the spider has gathered all the information it needs, and based on how the spider is set up in the search engine, it will index the site information and send it to the search engine database.
Once in the database, the information becomes part of the search engine directory and ranking process. Indexing is based on how the search engine engineers have decided to evaluate information returned by the spiders. When you enter a query into a search engine, it uses several calculations behind the scenes to determine which results you’re most likely looking for, out of the sites the spiders have returned. The database selects the best matches and displays them. The database is constantly updated by spiders crawling websites over and over again, to make sure that the most up-to-date information is available.
The search engine sorts the information that has been delivered to the databases which has become a part of the search engine and directory ranking process. This allows it to display the results. Databases are updated periodically. Robots visit you regularly to find any changes to your pages so that the latest information will be available. The way in which the search engine is set up determines how the number of visits you get is calculated. This can vary with different search engines. If your website is down or experiencing a large amount of traffic, the robot may not be able to access the page they are trying to visit. The website may not be re-indexed when this occurs. This depends on how frequently your site is visited by the robot. In the hope that your site will be accessible again, the robot will re-visit your site to see if it has become accessible.

WordPress is one of the leading Search Engine Optimisation enhanced blogs that you can select to use. It is a world leader. It is uncomplicated and easy to use, looks good and above all is 90% SEO ready out of the box.
This is part of a series of tip articles just about using WordPress for leveraging on SEO.
Tip: Make sure the blog is on YOUR site
So often we are asked about adding a blog on another website such as Blogger or Wordpress.com which provides free blog hosting and has a high PR rank.
If you are using your blog to enhance your SEO then you HAVE to place your blog on your web site – it cannot exist on a another website.
Do not even think about using a sub-web such as http://www.blog.myhotsite.com. Why would you use a sub web anyhow unless if you want a cool blog URL.
Sub webs are part of your internet site but they are confusing from an SEO perspective. If you want to have the blog content 100% affiliated with your website then make sure it is off a sub folder and NOT a sub web for example : http://www.myhappysite.com/blog.
Placing your blog on a sub web will not give you the same SEO advantage as having them as a sub-folder on your website. Sub webs may be treated different by different search engines – the result outcome will be unclear.
If your blog is presently hosted on blogger.com or wordpress.com then you should think about to move it as soon as feasible if you want to enhance your SEO position.
If you have some existing rankings for keywords on Google and Yahoo then you do need to be warned – adding a lot of new content may affect your ranking negativily at first.
We have had clients who had great ranking have their ranking drop through the floor when we added a large blog. Adding a hit of new content ‘dilutes’ your current site content if the new content is NOT Search Engine Optimisation optimized for the keywords that you want to rank for. Search Engine Optimize the content before making it live to avoid this dilution process. Taking the time to do this BEFORE you add it to your site will make a big difference to your existing ranking position.

What Are The Most Successful Tips And Techniques To Increase Your Seo Rankings?

The Internet is a very competitive market. Companies are competing to draw the attention of millions of Internet users, and an important part of the battle takes places in search engines. Here are some practical tips on how to increase your SEO rankings and get more traffic to your website:
The most important is to make everything possible to get more traffic to your website. More traffic means more visitors. Let’s suppose that your website is about makeup products. If it is well optimized, it will appear on the first pages in search engines when someone searches for a keyword related to makeup products.
Keywords are basically words that search engine spiders (a program that scans web sites and sends information back to search engines) use to determine the relevance of a website. Try to find the most appropriate keywords for your website. For example, if your site is about weight loss, use the words ‘weight loss diet’, ‘weight loss pills’, ‘how to lose weight’, etc.
If you look in the upper left of your web browser, you will see a text that displays the Web page you’re visiting and in some cases, a brief description of the website. This text is known as a web page title. The title is one of the first things that a search engine spider ’sees’ when scanning a website. This is why you must choose relevant titles for your articles and posts.
There are some things you are not allowed to do if you want your website to be indexed by search engines. Don’t use white text on white background, don’t hide the text behind images and don’t set the font size to 0. Those who don’t follow these rules are penalized by Google.
Your site’s ranking in Google search results is also based on the number of backlinks to your website. Google takes into account the quantity, quality and relevance of these links. However, some webmasters use link exchange schemes and build web pages only to exchange links. This violates Google’s webmaster guidelines and can negatively affect your site ranking in search results.
Examples of schemes of links may include: links created to manipulate Page Rank, links to spammers or malicious sites on the Web and excessive reciprocal links or excessive exchange links (“Create a link to me and I will create a link to you.). The best way to determine other websites to link back to you is to create unique content which can quickly gain popularity on the web and increase your website SEO Rankings.
The Internet is a very competitive market. Companies are competing to draw the attention of millions of Internet users, and the battle takes places in search engines. We’ve got practical Search Engine Optimization tips to boost SEO Rankings and get more traffic to your site!
Steps To Follow for On Page Search Engine Optimization

Building a website is not an easy task and it takes a lot of work. Often people think that the moment they publish, that flocks of people are going to arrive at their site. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen that way ,and that’s what makes search engine optimization so very important. After all, the higher up you get in page rankings, the more likely your site will get noticed. SEO is the way the search engines learn about your website and determine what is important about them.
One thing you need to remember is to stay consistent. The search engines crawl over every page of your website. So you must be sure each one is presented properly for SEO.
Here are some ideas to help you get your web into good shape for SEO.
Add Keyword in Title: Include ONLY our main keywords. The least amount of words you can place in the title, the more weight Google will give to each of the keywords and the higher you will rank.
Header tags H1are where to place the key words. Then get that tag up as close as possible to the top of the page. Don’t make long drawn out headers. Keep them concise so they don’t get lost in the text.
Add Keywords in H2 header tags: This can be thought of as a sub heading for our webpage. You should place your 2nd most important keyword in the H2 header tag. The H2 tag should be placed somewhere towards the top half of your webpage
How often your keywords show on a page is important. That doesn’t mean that you can plaster them all over the page at random. Google will not approve of this. Key word density is dependant on how often the keyword shows in conjunction with the total number of words. The keywords must read as if they naturally belongs in the text.
Yahoo is partial to text consisting of keywords in bold or italics. Bold depicts that it is strong in meaning and the italics refers to emphasis. This is in reference to the tags found in the body or the posts in bogs.
Properly include ALT image tags: ALT image tags is the description of the image for search engine. You should always include the keyword in the alt tags to increase keyword dentisity, but not overdo it.
The tech that appears in your click on links is known as the anchor text.
Your Urls are very important as search engines take a look at the words used in these as well. So make sure you use URLs that you can include your keywords in.
Link navigation is also very important keep it as simple as possible by only needing a few clicks to get around your site. This assists the search engines in getting around as well.
However I have to point out that on page SEO is not as affective as off page SEO. You can read my another articles “How to Do Off Page SEO” if you are really serious about your website optimization.

SEO vs SEM: What Is It And Why Is It Important to Know?

SEO and SEM; familiar with these terms? If you?re a webmaster, you certainly are. If you spend a lot of time with a webmaster, you?ll hear the two terms tossed around so frequently they will probably seam as if the two terms are interchangeable. However, that view would be wrong, as there is a difference between the meanings of the two words.
Search Engine Optimization is what is known as SEO, while SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. When referring to SEO, the webmaster is doing things to a webpage to make the page search engine friendly. By contrast, if the webmaster is doing things to a webpage so that its URL is optimized to get high ranks within search engines, this is SEM at work.
It?s important to know the difference between the two terms; make sure you ask for all information if your unsure before going and spending money on a SEO or SEM package. For example, a company offers you a package, if you don?t ask and get all the information, you might be buying into a package that merely is the company submitting your website URL to a few search engines, something you can easily do yourself.
Information that would be good to gain would be what they plan on doing to increase traffic to your website. So they are submitting your URL to search engines? Which ones? Have them give you a list of those search engines. What about the use of keywords? Ask about keyword optimization of the website. Ask about META and ALT tags.
Finally, it doesn’t really matter what services are offered, as long as the company uses “SEO” or “SEM”. Although, SEM will be more valuable than SEO, because SEM includes SEO as well as other marketing strategies. Even though im sure not all companies are the same in packages. Just simply put, the company could just be charging you for what you could do yourself. If shopping, look for websites with noteable backgroundsand ask about all services offered. Eventually, when you feel your research is sufficient and you know you will get the best value for your money, you can proudly make a efficiently wise decision.
Rank No1 – Three Tips To Help You

Sometimes it’s just the smallest of things that can make a HUGE difference with SEO ranking results.
Here are three small things that will make a Tremendous difference if you practice them all the time.
1. If you are going fishing make sure there are fish and not too many fishing people.
2. Title is everything.
3. Being bold makes you stand out.
If you are going fishing make sure there are fish and not too many fishing people.
When it comes to a more abstract world like SEO sometimes we forget every-day sense. So let’s remember!
In the SEO world making sure there are fish is making sure that there is traffic for a keyword we are opting to rank for. Use tools like Google Traffic Estimator (just Google it) if you are short on funds, and if you have a little bit of money, go get yourself a WordTracker subscription (they also have a free tool as well which is great). These (and many other traffic tools) will tell you that there are ‘fish’ for the keywords that you want to rank for.
The next part of this BIG trick is not to fish were everyone else is fishing. So if you are smart if you are doing a blog for example, you will look for keywords that have good traffic but a LOW number of competing websites. WordTracker will help you with this.
Title is everything.
In the SEO universe the page title is the ’secret weapon’ of the top ranker! Here is 1 thing to remember, make sure that the page title is as close as possible to being 100% the keyword you want to rank for as possible. The page title is like the title of a book. If you wanted to learn about the sex life of a worm then a book title of ‘Sex life of a worm’ will grab your attention and you will know you have the book you want. On the other hand a title of ‘Worms and interesting facts’ will not grab you in the same way. Make your title tags (where ever you can) 100% the keyword/key phrase you want to rank for.
Being bold makes you stand out.
This is a very good onsite optimisation tip if you want to optimize a page/blog entry for a particular keyword, make sure you embolden the keyword in the text 2 or 3 times. Do not overdo it of course!

SEO Companies see to it that search engine marketing services are customized to meet the goals and objectives of a Company.
Search engine optimization entails a lot of internet marketing-related tools. These include search-friendly web design, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising campaigns, link building programs, social media optimization, blog optimization and marketing, targeted local search marketing, and mobile marketing optimization, among many others.

Seeing the quantity of SEO companies getting larger, a few are showing they can rise above the rest. The great ones offer an extensive array of SEO services that others just cannot match.
Why SEO Is So Important And How To Get It Right
SEO or Search Engine Optimization, as the name indicates, is a technique to optimize your website and its presence on the internet for a particular set of keywords so as to increase your number of visitors coming through search engines. As the popularity and complexity of the internet increases, people greatly depend on search engines to find information online conveniently. Hence, SEO has become important for websites that are dependent on search engines to obtain a considerable percentage of their visitors.
The number of online services is rising at a rapid pace with each passing day, and to be able to make your mark, you ought to have a solid presence in search engine results. A lot of websites now get more than half of their visitors from search engines, which has enhanced the significance of SEO even further. In fact, today if you wish to be successful on the internet, there is no way you can choose to ignore SEO.
The first step is to optimize the website’s content according to SEO norms. Making use of the relevant keywords at proper intervals and sticking to the right keyword density will help in making your website search engine friendly and will considerably increase its search engine ranking.
Link building is another extremely essential part of SEO, wherein you seek incoming links from other websites as a sign of your website’s popularity, which will then improve your search rankings. The most important thing to consider while creating links is that you should choose sites that are concerned with your sphere of activity. You could get into problems with search engines if they perceive that you are coming up with misleading or artificial links to your websites.
It is essential to realize that SEO is not a one time process but a continuing one. If you develop a good website, optimize it for better search rankings and then ignore SEO, your advantage will soon be lost. Do remember to continuously reassess the website’s content, what ranks search engines have allotted to the important web pages of your site for particular keywords, and if the inbound links are still active. To ensure a steadily growing stream of traffic, you have to constantly adopt measures to improve the presence of your website in search engine results.
Considering the level of importance SEO has for any website, proper SEO training proves to be extremely helpful in imbibing the subtle details and applying them. Highly focused SEO training is provided by many different online and offline training companies. There is nothing that compares with specialized training when it comes to mastering this important skill.

The internet is becoming quite sophisticated. Everyday there are new infrastructures going up and one thing building onto the next to network into a whole new business. This is how the offline world works too but the distinct difference is that the online world is culminating at exponential rates, making it hard to keep up with the curve of the latest in search engine marketing tactics unless this is all you do.
Entire internet marketing services have been created by companies that spend half their resources maintaining an ahead of the curve awareness of the SEO world and the other half putting their clients pages on the map relatively quickly. SEO has become a business all it’s own and with so many great ways to promote sites to search engine spiders, a company can network several and create a viable marketing company to help people achieve high page ranking, traffic, and visibility (web presence).
A company that is online but not correctly promoted is as good as invisible. Hiring an internet marketing company is economical for the small business or individual as well as big companies. If you think about it, it’s very close to the same format that major companies like proctor and gamble have been using where they pay a marketing company to do all the research, development, and advertising of their company and product. The difference however is that the internet is build and evolved into a state where the same kind of marketing power can be done for pennies on the dollar using the very infrastructure of the web as a potent platform for driving traffic to your site.
Internet marketing services are potent simply because these companies often do nothing else but promote and help sites attain top ranking for their keyword or keyword phrase. They spend a lot of time figuring out what works and what doesn’t and constantly update how they approach SEO as things change. This alone is worth the money you pay for the service. They essentially do all the research and testing and you simply sit back and wait for the traffic to flood in as you climb the SERPS (page ranking).
Internet marketing services are an investment in your companies advertising and exposure and it just may be the investment that makes or breaks your companies success online! Experts know that outsourcing and diversifying your workload is the key to success. Internet marketing companies are actually a godsend in this age of online success. More than half of today’s consumers are purchasing online so if your not online and acquiring the traffic you need then your losing half your business!
