For a small business or an internet business to become successful, they would need to put time and effort in improving their website traffic so that it can easily be found by their potential customers. If they have a higher traffic rate then they can earn more from their business.

It is crucial indeed for a business to let its market know that it exists. In the online world, traffic to the business’ website, if properly generated, equates to potential customers, and traffic can be increased in many ways. One of this is through search engine optimization or SEO.

In SEO, keywords are placed in strategic areas of the website so that search engines can rank the website higher in the search results page. If a website gets high rankings, it would be more visible to many online surfers and eventually generate high volume of traffic. However, SEO can be expensive. A cheaper alternative that best suits small businesses and other online businesses as well is the use of Google Adwords.

It is no doubt that Google is the widely used search engine in the internet, and their Google Adwords tool allows businesses to post their links so that traffic can be generated to websites in no time.

This allows businesses to bid for keywords and post links to Google. When these links are clicked, the online surfer then will be redirected to the business’ website. It is only when an online user clicks on the link that businesses will pay for the advertising cost. This is the pay per click arrangement. This is not only done in Google but also done by other websites too.

In Google Adwords, the business can determine how effective are its keywords, or how effective is its campaign in getting traffic to its website.

When placing links in other websites, one should be careful and choose wisely. He or she should only go with websites that are also related to the business because if not, the chances are the people who visit that website are not interested in your advertisement. This is the beauty of using Adwords. The link or advertisement to your website becomes available to the internet surfer if that person searches for your keyword.

Pay per click advertising through Google Adwords is cheaper compared to other tools used in generating traffic, so small businesses and other online businesses can actually make use of this in reaching out to potential customers online.
