  • YouTube Gets a $799 Million Lawsuit
By User ImageDingchao Han on July 31st, 2008 | No Comments Comments

YouTube is in big trouble now, and they may face a lot of loss.

An Italian media company, Mediaset, throwing a whooping $779 million lawsuit against YouTube for allegedly distributing and using its audio and video files illegally.

Mediaset said that YouTube apparently has in its video database around 4,643 Mediaset-owned videos amounting to around 325 hours of broadcasting without getting paid for its rights. Mediaset is also claiming that with the number of hits that its videos are generating, the company is already running at a lost of around 315,672 broadcasting days. Here is YouTube’s response:

YouTube respects copyright holders and takes copyright issues very seriously,” YouTube said in an e-mailed response. “There is no need for legal action and all the associated costs. We prohibit users from uploading infringing material, and we cooperate with all copyright holders to identify and promptly remove infringing content as soon as we are officially notified.

We have known what the result will be, but now we can learn something from this case, that is, when you run your own video sites or any other kinds of site, please pay high attention on copyright, or you may be in lawsuit.

  • Google PageRank Updates Again!
By User ImageDingchao Han on July 26th, 2008 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

Google updates their PageRank every 3 months, now it’s time. This morning when I got up and visited my web sites, I found of them get higher PR, while some get lower PR, this site keep the same, PR2. The good news is I still have a PR5 site.

It’s hard to say how Google judge PR, because these month they changes some sites’ PR manually. DailyBlogTips.com is back to PR6 from PR7, the interesting thing is John Chow Dot Com is back to PR3 from PR4, what message is Google trying to send us? You know, John Chow Dot Com always writes paid posts, Google ever punish it, then unpunish it, now punish it again, it means Google still doesn’t allow paid post.

However Google hasn’t finished updating, so everything will be clear when it’s finished, I will pay high attention on that, and you can keep an eye on it too.

  • ??? How To Create Great Content For Your Site ???
By User ImageDingchao Han on July 23rd, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Web-site content is the most important element of an SEO-friendly site that you should spend plenty of time contemplating and completing. Fortunately, there are some ways to create web-site content that will
    make search crawlers love you.

Great content starts with the right keywords and phrases. Select no more than three keywords or phrases to include in the content on any one of your web pages. But why only three? Wouldn’t more keywords and phrases ensure that search engines take notice of your site?

When you use too many keywords in your content, you face two problems. The first is that the effectiveness of your keywords will be reduced by the number of different ones you’re using. Choose two or three for each page of your site and stick with those.

The other problem you face is being delisted or ignored because a search engine sees your SEO efforts as keyword stuffing. It’s a serious problem, and search engine crawlers will exclude your site or pages from indexes if there are too many keywords on those pages.

Once you have the two or three keywords or phrases that you plan to focus on, you need to actually use those keywords in the content of your page. Many people think the more frequently you use the words, the higher your search engine ranking will be. Again, that’s not necessarily true. Just as using too many different keywords can cause a crawler to exclude you from a search engine index, overusing the same word will also cause crawlers to consider your attempts as keyword stuffing. Again, you run the risk of having your site excluded from search indexes.

The term used to describe the number of times a keyword is used on a page is keyword density. For most search engines, the keyword density is relatively low. Google is very strict about ranking sites that have a keyword density of 5 to 7 percent; much lower or much higher and your ranking is seriously affected or completely lost.

If you don’t have ability or time to create content by yourself, you can hire ghost writers to do that for you, just tell them your requirements and their will write them for you, of course you have the total right over their articles.
