  • As A SEO, What Qualities Should You Have?
By User ImageDingchao Han on May 5th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

As a SEO, what qualities should you have? Have you ever thought about this question? You may treat your SEO job as a hobby, because you are not sure whether you can make a living off SEO. If this is your condition, I suggest you changing it as soon as possible if you want to achieve success. You should treat your SEO job as a serious business, in fact, it is a serious business. This is the first quality you should have as a SEO: Treat your job as serious business.

The second quality I think is Do NOT quit what you think is right. This is very important for you. It will determine whether you can adhere it or not, and of course it will determine whether you will succeed or not.

The third quality is Do NOT fear failing or trying new things. Yesterday I read an good interview with Google’s founder Larry Page, the subject of this is interview is How To Change The World. Some of the ideas Larry Page expressed are very useful and important and encourage me. Let’s enjoy them here and you can share what you think about them:

There are a number of barriers in place. Let me give an example. In our first founders’ letter in 2004, we talked about the risk profile with respect to doing new innovations. We said we would do some things that would have only a 10% chance of making $1 billion over the long term. But we don’t put many people on those things; 90% work on everything else. So that’s not a big risk. And if you look at where many of our new features come from, it’s from these riskier investments.

Even when we started Google, we thought, “Oh, we might fail,” and we almost didn’t do it. The reason we started is that Stanford said, “You guys can come back and finish your Ph.D.s if you don’t succeed.” Probably that one decision caused Google to be created. It’s not clear we would have done it otherwise. We had all this internal risk we had just invented. It’s not that we were going to starve or not get jobs or not have a good life or whatever, but you have this fear of failing and of doing something new, which is very natural. In order to do stuff that matters, you need to overcome that.

What do you think now? And are sure you’ve already known what qualities you should have as a SEO? Good! Show me now.

  • Are You Worrying For Google?
By User ImageDingchao Han on May 4th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

You may already heard that Microsoft Withdrawed Its Bid for Yahoo. Microsoft said yesterday that it was abandoning its blockbuster bid to acquire Yahoo after it raised its offer by $5 billion but Yahoo rejected it as still too low. Yahoo has a bigger appetite. This is what I predicted at the beginning and it is what I wish.

    Google_Yahoo_Microsoft

This is not the whole story, I mean, the game is not in end. The following story is that Microsoft and Yahoo will combine with each other to beat Google in online advertising marketing. So please pay high attention, you Google fans. You know, for we webmasters, Google is a major resourse of our profits. What if Microsoft and Yahoo defeat Google? Have you ever thought about this question? Are you worrying for Google now?

In my opinion, we don’t need to worry about Google. Competition is a good thing, and it is always a good thing. I will make us earn more and let internet become stronger and healthier. You know, internet is big enough to raise all of us. No need to worry about it. This is the thing Google should do, not us. I believe Google will think it carefully and they will take wise action very soon.

What I want to know now is that whether Google will give up Google Page Rank or not, because you know it seems that Google is doing wrong thing on that. I hope they will do some wise change.

    Good luck for Google!

  • SEO Without Google Page Rank
By User ImageDingchao Han on May 3rd, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Since we’ve already known that Google page rank now means nothing for websites’ authority, so how can we judge whether a website is good or not? Of course you will say that we still have Alexa. Yeah, you are right, but it is only a traffic rank system, it is quite different with Google PR. So is there any other alternatives? I haven’t seen one.

Now I want to know is why Google PR can dominate page rank system for so many years? and why aren’t there any other authoritative page rank systems? This is definitely a shame!

So now think about this question, what can SEO do without Google Page Rank? Shouldn’t we develop some Google PR alternatives?

Now what I am eager to see is someone have ability to launch a Google Page Rank alternative. Can you?

  • Google Page Rank System Is Killing Google’s Reputation
By User ImageDingchao Han on May 1st, 2008 | No Comments Comments

You may have noticed that Google updates Page Rank more frequently than before, now it updates once a month, it updated once every 3 months before. But it seems that Google Page Rank System is now killing Google’s reputation. Why do I say that? Yeah, I have to say that Google Page Rank was a famous rank system, but it is different now. Everything was changed when Google decided to punish websites which sell links last December. I can understand why Google do that, Google wants to keep search engine pure and fair. But they forget one thing, that is, where there is need, there is meet. This is a golden formula, nobody can change it.

Google wants to let webmasters stop selling links on their sites by decreasing their PR manually. I didn’t think it was a good idea to do that when Google first took action, and I predicted that it would destroy Google’s reputation.

Now my prediction comes true. How do I know that? Let’s see an example, my new website www.beautycomes.com is  a very new site, and I haven’t promoted it yet, it means there is no links to it, but Google gives it PR4! It can’t be possible, and it is no sense. Now I can see Google PR is doing the wrong thing, and it doesn’t represent authority anymore.

Now I think Google has only two choices, one is stop punishing websites which are selling links, giving their PR back, the other choice is continue to kill such websites, but at the meantime, kill Google itself, too.

I believe Google will make a wise choice.
